my longest ever week in 3 SIG BN
Ok, the week started out real great. I was expecting to do fatigue work for range (I seriously think it sux!), so I was pretty glum, especially with the thought that many will fail their range and I will be forced to stay back on my precious Saturday and have my weekend burnt.
Well, I found out on Tuesday that I din't have to do fatigue work. To many, this sounds great (I thought it was fantastic too that I don't have to go out field and do 'sai kang'). But then, I was tasked to help my dearest CSM create an animation for his muster parade. He gave us (me and my other friend) 2 days to complete it. I thought: that's simple!
But sadly to say, things turned out otherwise. Firstly, I found out later that night that I need to help him animate 5 different sets of parade procedures first, and eventually help him complete like 15 parade procedures? Now, to do 5 in 2 days is no joke, since you have to make the dumb stick figures move and turn as well as input in voice to make it sound like a real parade (which is dumb as you can easily just film the actual real-life parade and edit it to show people).
The next joke was that there was no Macromedia Flash, so we had to use MS Powerpoint. Its not the powerpoint is lousy, but it is the totally wrong tool to be used to create animation. Without flash, it took us ages to actually complete all the movement (actually, 1 and a half days).
And I must say this is really no joke! It was the first time in my life in 3 SIG that I was literally working 8-5 everyday! thats real long working hours! Worse than my schooling period as well! And I want to study during my NS days too!
And today, I knocked off at 1530 while my dearest COY knocked off at 1120 because I was helping my dear boss to complete just his muster parade animation (with real voice recording as well). Its crap! I don't even get half day off! The only benefit was that he drove me home!
HOW DUH!
And another bombshell that smacked on my head that I might (actually it is a very likely!) be the clerk. That's like how sucky! Although I won't do guard duty anymore, but I will be saying goodbye to my daily free time (this means I can't study at all), and I will have exercise Sandy for the rest of my NS life (until he disappears). Well, but looking back, its not that bad. At least I get a long weekend every alternate week, and administrative skills are definitely essential skills which I need to learn anyway in future.
Haiz. I sort of think that my week sucks! The thought of 200+ flying out of my pocket is real sad. Haha... hopefully the people that I spend my cash on are worthy of it. It will be real sad and disappointing if they turned out to be just blood suckers!
