What a Small World!!!
Oh yes, and CX apparently is applying Christ’s too! Hmm, throw in ZX who applied this year as well and another one I know, and assuming (I’m praying too) that all the applicants get in, there will be a minimum of 5 Singaporeans whom I know already going to the same college as me. Now, that is a little too good for comfort, cause that means I will already have known vaguely most of the Singaporeans there? I mean its good caused at least I will find myself with familiar faces, but that just means that there will be less surprises and less new people that I will actually meet. But then again, it doesn’t really matter to me cause I think I will really enjoy my life over there.
Oh speaking of which, I find it so amusing that previously, all my close friends applied to Oxford but this year, suddenly I know a lot of people who are going to Cambridge or intend to go there. Ha, seems to me that I will know a healthy number of both Oxford and Cambridge students.
Hmmm, that day I was thinking about it, the world is indeed that small. I mean for some interesting reasons, I happen to know a lot of scholars (be it my juniors or from my circle of friends), and the best part is that we in turn, using something like an extended friendster network, know more scholars as well as realize how much in common (among friends) we have. Ha, it can be quite terrifying especially since scholars are actually quite rare (I think its like less than top 5%?), but every other person I know seems to be one. Well, it seems to me that my social circle is like quite limited, and a little bit elitist too.
Well, thankfully NS and my primary school days really showed me more about life. This 2 periods let me have a chance to interact and mix with people from all walks of life, which I’m indeed grateful for or else I would have most probably end up being an elitist snob who does not understand the problems of the masses or the problems of others. I think it is invaluable and I will really be calling on all these experiences when I start working to make sure that I will make the right decisions.
Well, for those whom I haven't met yet but you actually read this blog, I wouldn't be surprised if we were to meet each other in the near future. After all, the world is indeed that small!
