Napola
Well, amidst all the backdrop, we admit that many scenes in the show were quite predictable, but we still enjoyed it. Ha ha. Chunsz thinks that the central theme in the show is about loss of innocence among kids, as well as how easily deluded children are by adults, but I think the director is more concerned with the portrayal of Nazi indoctrination as well as a bit on the idea of humanity. Oh, it’s not like we are contradicting each other (we both agree in general), just that we are both slightly biased to some extent? Ha.
I thought the director was good. Every single action and scene in the show brings out a certain point. In this sense, the movie is so much more complete and 3-D than most others. I mean it is not like those dumb shows where people just attempt to fight one another, or it’s a battle between good vs. evil. The film talks a lot on humanity, the corruption of the human spirit, ideology, innocence, violence, etc. On the whole, I think it is one of the better movies I watched in a long time (ok, Charlie was also good, but that appealed more to my childhood, Napola appealed to a more matured and thoughtful side of me).
Oh, I went down to Paulaner too. I just found out that Monday and Sunday from 2-8, the drinks are 1 for 1. Haha, so beer lovers, Sunday afternoon is a good time for you to go and enjoy the drinks there.
