Thanks for everything

After meeting up with my buddies last weekend, I’m suddenly very thankful to heaven for the wonderful NS experience I had as well as for the people whom I met in NS.

Firstly, I thought I had a bad PC previously. Until I heard from my other friends how screwed up their PCs are. Eating people’s offs, asking people to help them do the most stupid and easiest things (its not even throwing things, its like asking people to help them hold the phone!), hmmm, I do wonder what are SAF’s criteria for officer selection.

But then, hearing what my friends do during their free time makes me realised that, actually I cannot fault the SAF. Maybe they deserve some blame, but it is either the education system being totally flawed somewhere to have produced people with wonderfully screwed up attitudes. Or maybe its just pure innate human behavior? Stealing people’s stuff, shirking responsibilities, chao kenging… Ok la, its not as if I didn’t see that. You get to see plenty of that in BMT, SISPEC, OCS, all the training schools? (hmmm, even for SI!). So of course I should not be surprised to hear about such behaviour in other places… After all, who ain’t selfish in NS.

That’s where I think my platoon is HEAVEN. Ok, amidst all the politics inside, as well as all the interesting ‘ties’ from the previous generations, there still is a certain level of integrity among us. At least for the current generation, it is really ultra-fantastic. I mean, have you heard of people volunteering to cover another person’s duties? People who are willing to just suffer with you even though they can rest? People who are will drop by and take a look at you and help you out? Hmmm, god these are things, which I think not many can boast of.

Of course, I’m not as lucky as some people who spent like almost 80% of their NS life with their good buddies from school. That is really ultimate! But then, I think I’m super fortunate to have met the people I met thus far in NS. In SI, I met a lot of matured, thinking adults? Haha. Actually, its more of scholars la, so you can say its like elitist? Over in my unit, I met people from all walks of life, like JC, polys, etc. You can say I really expanded my horizons.
I’m seriously thankful for all my good pals and buddies that I’ve met, it’s been a wonderful time we had together.

Well, all that I can say is that hopefully we will stay in touch in future, or even better, see each other when we go for reservist. Haha.
