China Xiamen Trip Day 1

Everything ran smoothly and the plane reached Xiamen at around 1120. It was hot! Really hot! Seriously, even though they claimed it is 32°C, but I think some of their roads feel like 39°C to 40°C. The worse thing is that this type of weather sustained itself throughout my trip, although there was occasional intermittent rain, which lasts on average between 5-10 minutes.
After lunch, we went to our first stop, which is the 虎溪岩 (Hu Xi Yan). Apparently it is a temple that was built to commemorate the reverend hong chuan and his master(for those who don’t know, master hong chuan was the previous abbot of Kong Meng San in Singapore). Well, I must say the temple has some lovely rocks which are indeed beautiful. There was also some interesting monuments too.
Next, we walked over to the 白鹿洞 (Bai Lu Dong). Again, it was a temple so there wasn’t much to see. But it has a good view of downtown Xiamen.
We then traveled past Xiamen University which has an almost identical layout as The Chinese High School, as there was this huge field that sprawled across the front. But Xiamen University is of course way bigger, and its buildings look lovely with that tinge of nostalgia.
The last stop for the day is the 南普陀寺 (Nan Pu Tuo Temple). If I remembered correctly, it is like around 1000 years old? Well, it is a huge place with a lovely garden, but that’s about it.
