Update

I admit, I am blogging super infrequently. Oh well, I was busy with work, and then subsequently with DPPS, which stands for Developments in Public Policy Seminar. And now, I'm sort of having a short break before I start with my HQ attachment.

To summarise, I think DPPS is fantastic. Ok, maybe the program was just typical, usual and boring, but I am very impressed with the people who attended the course with me. Granted, we are all from the top universities around the world, so I shouldn't be too surprised with the quality of the questions and issues that were raised. But in a sense, I must say that I was really impressed with the quality of the scholars - at least it seems that the future of Singapore's Civil Service seems safe, cause I can feel that these people will certainly make dynamic changes and hopefully, effective changes for the better. Of course, that's under certain assumptions as well. But at least for the time being, it does look promising.

We also visited Changi Prison as part of the learning, and I must say I was very impressed with the Singapore Prisons Service. In a sense, I might even think that the prisoners are actually much more productive than our NSFs - they actually do work which creates value not just to the economy, but to their lives. To some extent, I supposed "Prison Break" also tainted the image of Prisons to me, but the visit did change any stereotypical images that I had. In a sense, I must admit that the Singapore Prisons Service does appear to be on the right track of rehabilitating criminals and helping them re-assimilate back into society.

Ok, let's not talk about work. I've been busy meeting friends for the past few weeks - JC, SJ, Army, etc. Really glad to meet up with them. Oh, and of course there's still many more that I haven't met up with yet... Hmmm.

Just a point to note, the AMK crabs are still amazingly nice. I strongly advocate that you try it! It is just too amazingly finger-licking good!
