Nottingham

I was at Nottingham for the Nottingham Games last weekend. Hmm, for those who don’t know, the Nottingham Games is an event in which all the Singapore societies in UK will come together and play sports. It’s sort of like some combined schools meet. Ha, the difference is that there’s really not much gain in winning (ya, no half day off), and some universities (like mine), treats it as an opportunity to meet friends studying in other parts of the UK. Well, I met a lot of people there – Zhixian, Chun Han, Darius, Clarence, Jake, etc. It’s good to just meet up with people. Oh, for those who took pictures with me, can you send them over? Haha.

Anyway, the University of Nottingham is huge! It’s quite scary, as you need to walk like 100m just to get from 1 building to another, and it has its own lake. I think it’s bigger than NUS back home. I must say I like it a lot as compared to some other city universities, but it is rather windy there, and relatively colder than Cambridge.

The city of Nottingham is relatively big. It is a good place if you like shopping – all the shops are congregated in the heart of the city, much like our Orchard Road. There is certainly a large variety of shops, and I think you can easily spend the whole day shopping there.

In terms of tourism, there’s not much there. The only significant landmark they have is Nottingham castle, or better known as Robin Hood castle. Yup, Robin Hood is from Nottingham. A pity I didn’t have the time to explore the forest nearby. Haha.

Oh, Sunday we had a formal to celebrate Junming’s birthday. I must say that Christ’s formal is just not as good as other colleges; hmmm my wish list is to go for King’s.

I’m bound for Wales over the weekend to find Cexiang. Hopefully it will be a good trip!
