Christmas Eve

Christmas eve was yesterday, and I didn’t do much in the day. Let me see, I spent the morning and afternoon sleeping, doing work, sleeping, playing Xbox, listening to music, chatting, well, all very typical activities.

The fun started in the evening. Went off to meet my sqd for dinner at Marina. I’m not a supporter of that place, especially when I had food poisoning once after eating there and it totally ruined my Chinese New Year!!! Ok, 3 guys turned up, plus 7 gals (well add in one more for hong’s bf so it makes 4 guys…) A not so decent attendance, but then what more did I expect? Haha.

Well, we sort of got mobbed on our way out of the train station to the bus stop, with the vendors all trying to entice us that their place is better, etc. Ended up paying 10 bucks, which is quite reasonable in my opinion. The dinner was average, just that it was over oily for my liking. Anyway, had quite a good time talking to Galvin and Norman – I haven’t really met them for ages so there was quite a bit of catching up to do. The world’s quite small, cause we met Yikai and his friends as well.

As usual, there was all those photo moments. After eating/joking for around 3 hours, we finally went our separate ways. No la……not all of us that is. Galvin left for his friend’s place while Norman went to Suntec. I accompanied the others to Esplanade (well, cause that place is so beautiful…). Getting to the esplanade was a mini adventure already for us, cause we took 400 to its interchange (in Shenton Way), and then we slowly strolled from Tanjong Pagar all the way to the Esplanade (which was roughly 1.5 MRT stops away, or 4 bus stops distance?) Well, I guessed we needed some form of exercise to digest our food.

Reached Raffles Place, then lost Hong and her bf to TCC (I think). We carried on trotting down to Esplanade to meet yl. Of course, there were some stopovers here and there, including Ms yen going to buy candy floss. Finally met yl who was caroling earlier in the evening. Later, we whisked off to Hiagen Diaz hoping to find a place to sit down and chit chat (let’s face it, we were all super tired after walking such a LONG distance).

Well, the moment I went up the escalator, surprise surprise. Saw WJ and gang there. Quite shocking, cause I thought he will be in town. Anyway, I said hi then we proceeded to Hiagan Diaz, just to be rewarded with the news that it is totally packed. Well, there was Mrs Fields just opposite and px treated us (sort of) to brownies and cookies.

We finished and went over to the river to try and catch the liver performance (there was a band there playing jazz when we walked by just now), but alas, they had stopped performing. So Yen and I started to examine all the various Botero’s on display… The sculptures are indeed real nice and impressive…We were pretty amaze (was it?) that the rest of them seems to treat the Botero’s as just another metal structure, without paying even so much of an attention the them. Haiz….the demise of art in Singapore.

Well, as midnight approaches, we went up to the bridge, hoping that there will be fireworks (actually, we got caught in the Singaporean crowd mentality, cause we just saw hordes of people rushing up from the underpass, and we thought that there will be something spectacular…). Of course we were being overly wishful (let’s face it, last night Esplanade cannot be considered packed at all….). Well, we got dua3 in that sense, as really there was nothing much! Anyway, then we left cause PX had to catch the last bus back. Well, I got back without having to take cab too (I also just discovered that the last bus for 100 at Aljunied is at 0044 hrs).

Well, it was a good Christmas Eve. Let’s hope Christmas this year will be real fun too!!!
