the thing about blogs...
Oh well, the main reason why I am blogging this week is because I am pretty much amazed at how insecure blogs are. Did you read about the poor PSC scholar who made some racist remarks in his blog and that kicked out such a big fuss that somebody even emailed PSC about the whole incident to ask them to revoke his scholarship? You can say that I was pretty stunned because I did not expect people to kick up such a big fuss over this type of stuff. Does this mean that a scholar cannot have any forms of profanities or vulgarities on his blog? Hmm, this is indeed interesting...
Ok I admit that I do not like the fact that a future top civil servant actually discriminates against other races, neither do I like the idea that all comments on blogs are to be taken so seriously. Yes, I know the internet is a public zone, and that whatever you writes on it will be seen by the whole wide world. But isn't the idea of blogs a place for people to vent their ideas and frustrations? To some extent, it can be considered a diary, and the fact that the poor guy already has made his blog an authorized access site means that either somebody hacked in or has abused his authority to leak information to the whole world. This is something like having your diary been stolen, and all your secret stuff is leaked out to the whole world. Isn't that immoral?
And mind you, blogs have zero sense of security. I mean somebody can easily hack into one, and change its contents. Thus, what if some remarks or comments were not made by the person himself? Should he bear the full responsibility as well?
Ha, this reminds me of a recent incident that happened just a few days back when some weirdo (whom I believed to be highly immature), googled for somebody's name and ended up going to another person's blog. He read something there, told X that he was mentioned in Y's blog, X went to read and X got pissed of with Y and now I think their relationship is partially strained(though I think Y doesn't care that much). Oh please, some things on blogs ought to be taken with a pinch of salt (including mine, unless I'm blogging about Economics), or else the whole world will hate each other. Please be matured and just glossed through blogs, do not ponder too much and spread it about.
Oh yea, I am just wondering, does this mean that my blog must be strictly nice, in the sense that I should not talk back things about others? Hmmmm..... I don't know. Maybe once I know who reads my blog then I shall decide.
Anyway, it has been a pretty lousy weekend to me. I was really just staying at home watching DVDs and movies. Haha, sounds pretty sad right? Yea, I know, but it is a good way to save up. I want to get my hands on Jade Empire, but the limited edition will only reach our shores on May 1st. Sigh...that's a real long wait.......
