Red tape

I wanted to blog this morning, but I failed to because of other commitments. Haha. Anyway, I am pissed off with Singapore organizations, especially government bodies because of the HUGE amount of paperwork involved.

Firstly, I am pissed off with my former unit! They are like how screwed up! Its like I still have not received my IPPT award money, even though I have ORD for like 2 months? And worse, when I call to enquire and check on it, they just pop up with funny and lame excuses. God, the Ops Warrant was actually saying that he couldn’t do anything about it since the guy in charge was in Taiwan on exercise. I mean, does that mean that one small fry is so vital to the organization? Worse, he insinuated that it was ‘my fault’ that I cleared my IPPT so early, and that they need ‘effort’ to dig up the records to check and endorse it. How crappy!

Recently, I called back to check with the guy who was supposed to key in the data and his excuse for me not getting the money was because the unit was busy with exercises and hence they are now taking time to clear the backlog of data. What a totally flimsy excuse since my friends who ORD in June have actually received their IPPT award cash! So is he trying to hint that I am just the ‘unlucky’ few who got overlooked?

Seriously speaking, I must admit that I am half way to giving up hope of the money ever coming in. But I shall strive on and fight for it! Ha, I just refused to surrender this to the bureaucracy!

And again, I must compliment my scholarship officers and agencies. They have been swift in their response to my queries and needs, as well as actually keep us scholars well informed of any activities. This is quite unlike some of my peers, who are actually struggling to obtain some kind of response from their scholarship officers. Ha, MOE rocks totally!

Oh ya, now I’m facing another red tape thanks to MINDEF and their exit permit regulations. I’m confused as to whether I should apply for my EP for 3 years straight, but apparently there is this clause that says:
In addition, an Operationally Ready National Serviceman returning for a visit and staying for a period of more than 30 days, must notify MINDEF of his date of return to S'pore through Internet: www.NS.sg. He must apply for another EP if he wishes to leave again.

This is totally irritating. Am I supposed to keep reapplying my EP every year if I come back to Singapore for holiday? Or do I have to so tactically plan it such a way that I don’t stay in Singapore for more than 30 days at 1 shot?

Hmmm, I hate RED TAPE!
