Sick

I had a bad week, due to this weird throat infection, which I got on Tuesday morning. Initially I just felt soreness in my throat, but as I had to shout at my students for 3 and a half hours, my throat eventually degenerated into a husky, ‘sexy’ (that’s what one of my colleagues said) voice. Later on at night, I had a fever.

Ok, I shouldn’t ramble about how my throat infection developed; to put it simply, I was sick for the past week, and I still am now. Hopefully I can recover in time by Monday, if not, I totally dread the idea of being sick for the whole of next week. Well, as long as I survive Monday, I should be able to survive the rest of the week, since I will be giving my students and essay test, hence there’s no need for me to talk.

Oh, I watched MI 3 yesterday with the CCIS people and I must say that the movie was a good action show. The stunts and special effects were amazing, even though the story line was literally, bare and thin. Haha, but I truly enjoyed the ingenuity that Ethan Hunt and his team had when attempting missions. I think the scene that most people will remember will be the part in which Ethan attempts to calculate the height and force possible for him to jump over to the other building. I mean, using common sense, it is impossible, even though of course mathematically and theoretically speaking it is possible. Hehe, well, I shall leave that to the physicists to figure out.

Of course, I was totally disgusted with the wrong ideas that the movie also conveyed. The thing about ‘shocking’ a person dead and then bringing him back to life is of course a fantasy – I mean let’s face it, you need to calculate and time the electricity just that you don’t burn the human body up. And the last bit which showed him miraculously jumping back into action after CPR is in my opinion, impossible. I will appreciate if any first aiders, medicine students or biology experts can offer me views on this aspect.

Ok, hopefully I can recover in time so that I can attend a birthday celebration on Tuesday (I already missed one last week!), a buffet dinner on Thursday as well as for my Taiwan trip. I’m really looking forward to traveling again!
