Books, books, and more books...

I think I’m having not much of a life. Its like I went to IT show for Thursday, Friday and Saturday last weekend and now I’m going to all the book stores/fairs for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at least!

I hopped over to Kino on Tuesday since they had a 20% offer for members until that day so I got some manga with my vouchers as well as “New Ideas from Dead Economists”. The book looks like something along the pattern of Freakonomics so I think it should be a good read.

Well, Borders had 20% for 14th – 16th so I went down to get a look at what books they might have that might interest me as well as use my gift card. In the end, I got a cook book (it was really really tough deciding what cook book to buy since there were so many on display there, so many things that I want to try too!), and one book by Krugman about the recent economic crisis in the 90s. Actually, I was contemplating to get Keynes “The Economic Consequences of Peace”, but I decided against it since it wasn’t that pertinent to current events and its also not really an Economics book, more like a argument by Keynes on why the Treaty of Versailles was destined for failure. I saw a few interesting books too, and one which caught my eye is “How to Score a Penalty” which was wrongly placed under the sports section. In fact, it was a book that showed the interesting applications of Mathematics to Sports, and it is something like Freakonomics and it does bring out a lot of interesting points, which you never thought about. A pity was that the price was too steep so I gave it a miss. But I shall keep a look out for it when the price drops.

I’m planning to hop over to the Book Fair at Expo tomorrow to see what are the deals available. Hmm, think I might pay a visit on Saturday as well. Seems like this is the week of Books for me. I guess I shall control myself over the next 2 weeks as it is tough to sustain your lifestyle when you have no income…The only good thing is that although I bought 80 over dollars worth of books, 70 dollars of it was paid with vouchers! Haha, so I technically only spent 10 dollars! Hehe.
