China Xiamen Trip Day 6

We woke up early the next morning as we had to go back to Shantou to catch the bus back to Xiamen. We had breakfast at this small eatery, and the food was really cheap! We ate noodles, and dumplings and the total bill was just 12 RMB or S$2.40! Hmm, China is indeed the best place to go to for cheap and good food.

We left the place at around 930 and reached Shantou at roughly 1130. We had a simple lunch (actually, it isn’t simple by normal standards since there were funny stuff like pig’s trotters tendons and more oysters again), before we boarded the express bus back to Xiamen.

The bus is like one of those that you will take if you choose to travel from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur – it has amenities like VCD player, toilet, television and nice comfortable seats. On the whole, the ride was pretty nice and uneventful since we were traveling mainly on the expressways.

We reached Xiamen at about 1630 hours and we hired a cab to our hotel. Now, I discovered how cheap a cab is in Xiamen! It’s like RMB 8 yuan for the first 3km, and every subsequent 2km costs RMB 2 yuan. So, you usually dun’t exceed paying 10-12 yuan for a cab journey in Xiamen island since it is like 1/3 the size of Singapore. If you do your maths, that is just S$2.40 at the most!

The night was spent shopping at Xiamen World Trade centre. It is a really big shopping centre, much like the size of our Suntec city. There’s also plenty of stuff to be found there, including international brands like G2000, Giordano, Baleno, Wal-mart, etc. Oh, they also have a food court too! I must say I had a good time shopping there and buying things.
