Cambridge

Hi all, I’m now in Cambridge! Many apologies for not blogging for close to 2 weeks, but that’s because things are really hectic here and the Brits tend to be a little bit inefficient at times (I only got my internet up on Wednesday). Anyway, thanks so much to all those who came down to send me off! I’m really touched… Hehe, if you all want any photos that we took that day, do drop me a message/email, and I will certainly pass it to you.

Just a brief update, things are really nice in Cambridge. It is really just a small town (although there are occasions on which I find it super HUGE), and there’s a lot of pubs here (like one every 20 m?). I must admit I’ve been drinking a lot these few days, because of matriculation dinners (where we all wore robes and stuff and look like lawyers having conferences), college drinks, subject drinks… Hmm, essentially drinking is part of their life and culture here.

The architecture here is fantastic! King’s college is totally beautiful, and Christ’s (which is mine) is nice as well. St John’s college and Trinity college are beautiful as well. For those who like medieval architecture, do pay a visit here! I can bring you all about – my room is really huge. I think I can easily accommodate another 2/3 people (if you don’t mind sleeping on the floor).

Ok, the main complaint I have about this place is their pace of studies! The pace of life here is really so much slower than Singapore’s, but when in comes to academic studies, Singapore pales in comparison. I got my work before my lectures started, and I got like my whole term worth of questions! Thankfully I studied before flying here, so at least I know how to do some of them.

Oh, I spent my first Mid-autumn away from home too. Do enjoy the photos here!

Anyway, I will be going down to Oxford on the weekend of 21st to 22nd. And of course, I plan to start my grand tour of each of the different colleges (30 in all) here soon. Oooh, it is really exciting and I will happily post the pictures for you all to admire!

And sorry Chunsz that I'm not in London to celebrate your birthday. Many apologies but I promise to drop by London soon! Hopefully before term ends!
